Once you delete a message from your inbox, the message automatically goes to your 'erased messages' folder and is available to you for 7 days before the system permanently deletes it. Choose prompt #6 from the main menu to access the 'erased messages' folder, where you can permanently delete these messages on your own. This will free up your mailbox and allow your inbox to receive new messages.

But now, you can also listen to your messages online from any computer, anywhere. Plus, because your Voice Mail has been converted to a .wav file, you can e-mail it anywhere or save it to your hard drive, just like any other file.

Can I keep my old mailbox?
No. As part of the migration, you will need to set up a new mailbox and new greetings.
How long is my old mailbox available?
Your old mailbox is only available for a limited period of time after the migration, usually just a couple of weeks.
What if I miss the conversion date?
If you fail to set up your new mailbox by the migration conversion date, your 'new' mailbox will begin receiving messages. To access, dial your local access number (your initial passcode will be the last four digits of your telephone number). A tutorial will walk you through setting up your new mailbox.
Note: You can access your 'old' mailbox for two weeks after the conversion date.
What happens with my old messages?
Currently, your messages are only held in your mailbox for thirty days, so if you don't move any of these messages to your new mailbox, you will lose them after the date listed in your migration schedule. Though, remember, with your new Frontier Message Center, you can go online and save any messages to the hard drive on your computer, so you can keep them forever if you wish.
Do I have to change to the new system?
Yes, the old voice mail system will be unavailable.

How does mailbox conversion happen?
It is fairly easy to set up your new mailbox. You will dial an access number. Then a user-friendly system tutorial will instruct you on how to customize your new mailbox. Your initial password is the last four digits of your phone number.
What is mailbox conversion?
Mailbox conversion simplify refers to the process of moving customers from an older Voice Mail platform to a new Voice Mail platform.
"Platform" refers to the core technology that we use for providing customers with Voice Mail capabilities.
Are there any charges associated with moving my old mailbox to this new system?
There are no charges associated with migration and there are no new charges associated your enhancement.
Why are you changing Voice Mail platforms?
We are changing the Voice Mail platform so that our customers have the latest and most up-to-date services available.
The technology available for voice mail has improved just like the technology continually changes for other products like digital cameras, televisions, MP3 players, etc.
Frontier wants to make sure that our customers have the best telecommunications services available.
Is there a schedule for when my mailbox will move to the new system?
Your schedule is noted in a communication sent by mail to your billing address.
The schedule will tell you the date of the migration. It also lists other important dates like the last day to clear out your old messages and the last day you will have access to your old mailbox.
Do I have to convert my mailbox to this new system?
Yes, nearly all Frontier customers are eventually moving to Frontier Message Center. But, it is a fairly simple one-time set-up so it should just take a few minutes.
How has my Voice Mail Service been enhanced?
- Frontier Message Center on your phone works like most Voice Mail services:
- you dial an access number or enter an access code, then enter your passcode.
- Then you are in your mailbox and you can listen to your messages.
- You also have numerous options available once you are in your mailbox.
- But, your Messaging service is "Enhanced" because you can now also listen to your messages Online, by going to https://webmail.frontiermessaging.com.
- You can then send or save these files or treat them like any other sound file you may have.
Can I change my PIN myself?
Yes. You can change your PIN at any time, either through the telephone or web interface to your mailbox.
What if I forgot my PIN?
Please contact Customer Service, 800-921-8101 for residential or 800-921-8102 for business, to re-set your PIN.
What is my Login Identification and Password?
Your identification is your 10 digit telephone number (associated with voice mail). Your initial (first) password will be the last four digits of this telephone number. You will be required to change this password when you go through set-up.

Is there a tutorial to help me set up my mailbox?
Yes. The first time you log in to your mailbox, you will be asked to establish your permanent password, record your name announcement, and establish a greeting (either a personal greeting (in your own voice) or a system greeting.
How many characters can my PIN be?
You can select a PIN between 4 and 20 characters long (number only).
What happens after I log in to the Frontier Message Center web site?
After you successfully log in, you will come to the main page that shows your mailbox (and any messages that are in your mailbox). New messages will be in bold. Simply click on any message to begin listening to the message.
What is my login ID and password?
Your ID is your 10-digit telephone number associated with your Frontier Message Center. Your password is the same as when you access your mailbox through your telephone.
Note: Do not use hyphens when entering your mailbox number. Your mailbox ID is 10 consecutive digits (for example, 8455551212).
Is there a timeout on the visual (web portal) mailbox if there is inactivity?
Yes. As a security feature, you will be automatically logged off after 30 minutes (if no activity); you will then need to log-in again.
How do I know when I receive messages?
You have numerous ways to be notified of new messages. Through your telephone, you will hear a stutter dial tone (short, quick tones) and/or your message waiting indicator light on your phone will be on. Note: this requires your telephone to provide this function.
Additionally, you can establish (through the Internet) notification via email, SMS (text messaging for cellular/mobile phones) and/or alphanumeric pager. See Message Notification under Visual Voice mailbox.
How large is my mailbox?
All Frontier Message Center mailboxes (Basic, Family, or Deluxe) are based on minute capacity. The total capacity of your mailbox depends upon both how many messages are in your mailbox and the length of the message. Note, with Frontier Message Center, you can store important messages indefinitely by saving them onto your computer hard drive (see Visual Voice mailbox for information).
Is the Family or Business Basic with sub-mailbox subscriber responsible for building/adding sub-mailboxes to their service?
Yes. Each subscriber to this service type (Residential - Family; Business - Basic with sub-mailboxes) can add up to 5 sub-mailboxes for their voicemail service.
Family/Group Mailbox- Set Up Instructions
Your initial mailbox provides the capability for you to add up to 5 sub-mailboxes, in addition to the 'general' mailbox. The naming convention for these mailboxes:
- 0 - Main Mailbox
- 1 - Sub-Mailbox 1
- 2 - Sub-Mailbox 2
- 3 - Sub-Mailbox 3
- 4 - Sub-Mailbox 4
- 5 - Sub-Mailbox 5
Step 1: Planning Your Mailbox
Map out who will be assigned the main mailbox and the sub-mailboxes. Once you establish this 'mapping' it will be easier for you to determine what script you will use for your 'group greeting'. For example, in a family environment, you may have the following mapping:
- Sub-Mailbox 0 (main mailbox) - 'Smith Family'
- Sub-Mailbox 1 - John Smith (Dad)
- Sub-Mailbox 2 - Jane Smith (Mom)
- Sub-Mailbox 3 - Tommy Smith (Son)
- Sub-Mailbox 4 - Sarah Smith (Daughter)
Step 2: Initial Set-Up of Mailbox
Although your mailbox can have up to 6 mailboxes (the 'main' mailbox plus 5 sub-mailboxes) your mailbox will operate exactly like a 'standard' mailbox until you add the sub-mailboxes to it (step 3 provides instructions on how to add sub-mailboxes).
The initial personal (or system) greeting you establish during the tutorial (ie initial mailbox set-up) will remain in place until you add the first sub-mailbox. Upon adding the first sub-mailbox to this family/group (type of) mailbox, your initial greeting will (become) the greeting for sub-mailbox 0 (main mailbox). If you do not set-up a 'group mailbox greeting' (See Step 4), the system will automatically provide a 'system greeting' informing callers (who are transferred to voice mail) that there are multiple (sub) mailboxes and asking which mailbox they want to leave their message in.
Dial the access number (provided) and use the last four digits of your telephone number (associated with voicemail) as your initial password. A 'tutorial' will walk you through the initial mailbox set-up ('initiailization'):
- Establishing permanent PIN/password
- Record name announcement
- Record personal greeting or select system greeting (what callers hear when they are transferred to your mailbox)
Upon completing the initial set-up of your mailbox, you will be transferred to the main menu of your mailbox (continue with step 2). DO NOT HANG UP - Please continue to Step 3.
Step 3: Add sub-mailbox(es)
From the Main Menu, add the number of sub-mailboxes that are required for your home or office, by the following sequence:
- Press 4 Manage Mailbox Settings
- Press 4 Group Mailbox Options
- Press 3 Add a new secondary mailbox (secondary mailbox is the same as sub-mailbox)
The messaging system will assign the sequential number of the sub-mailbox along with an assigned password/PIN for the sub-mailbox. PLEASE WRITE DOWN THIS INFORMATION AS YOU WILL NEED TO SHARE THE INITIAL SUB-MAILBOX PIN(S) WITH THE SUB-MAILBOX OWNER(S).
- Continue to adding the sub-mailbox(es) required using the sequence above.
- When you are finished adding sub-mailboxes, press the * key until you return to the MAIN MENU.
- DO NOT HANG UP - Please continue to Step 4
Step 4: Record group mailbox greeting
The Group Mailbox Greeting is a personalized greeting that will provide callers specific information on leaving messages with specific individuals (i.e. sub-mailbox owners). An example of a group mailbox greetings is below:
"Hello, you have reached the Smith Family. We are sorry we missed your call. To leave a message for John Smith press 0, for Jenny Smith press 1, for Billy Smith press 2 and for Lindsay Smith press 3. Thank You.">
From the Main Menu, you will need to go into the Greetings Menu to record the Group Message Greeting. The sequence is:
- Press 3 Manage Your Greetings
- Press 4 Manage Group Mailbox Greetings
- Press 2 Record Group Greeting
(Note: If you do not record a personal group greeting, a system greeting will play with reference to the main mailbox and the number of sub-mailboxes that have been built.)
After successfully recording the Group Greeting and exiting from the Greetings Menu (using the * key) to the MAIN MENU, your Family/Group Mailbox is now set-up.
Instructions for Sub-Mailbox Owners
Sub-Mailboxes operate off the main telephone number. Using the same access number, the (sub-mailbox) owner/subscriber will be asked 'who they are logging in as', for example, 0 - main number, 1 - sub-mailbox #1, 2 - sub-mailbox #2, etc. Enter your sub-mailbox number and then enter the passcode/PIN for the sub-mailbox (Note: This initial password was generated by the system in Step 3).
Sub-Mailbox owners have the same features as a 'single' mailbox owner; this capability includes establishing a personal greeting or selecting one of three system greetings.
Upon accessing a sub-mailbox the first time, the sub-mailbox owner will receive the tutorial that will walk them through the mailbox set-up ('initialization'):
- Establishing permanent PIN/password
- Record name announcement
- Record personal greeting or select system greeting (what callers hear when they are transferred to your mailbox)
From my mailbox, can I automatically place a call to someone who left me a message?
Yes! If you subscribe to Frontier Deluxe service, while listening to a message, you can automatically place a call to the person who left you the message. This feature is called Live Reply. It's a very convenient way to quickly return a call.
Note: The return call will be to the telephone number that initiated the call to you; long distance charges will be incurred if applicable.
Can I manage my personal greeting, busy greeting, and/or name announcement from my computer?
Yes. But you will need a microphone that is attached to your computer. All you will need to do is push "Record" and start speaking through your microphone. Then press "Stop" when you are finished. The user interface is very simple to understand.
What types of greetings are available with Frontier Message Center?
All mailboxes include a personal greeting (which you record in your own voice). Also, every mailbox may have a busy greeting, also recorded in your own voice, which allows the caller to know that you are currently on another phone conversation. If you do not want to record a personal greeting, there are three system greetings that you can choose. These include name announcement and phone number, phone number (only), or a very general greeting that doesn't provide either your name announcement or phone number. Customers subscribing to Deluxe or Family service also have an Extended Absence Greeting available.
What is the "Transfer to Operator" feature?
Each mailbox allows you to set-up a telephone number, that if the caller reaches your mailbox (and listens to your greeting), the caller can press "0" and be transferred to that number. For example, this number can be your office or mobile number.
Note: If you decide to utilize this feature, it is helpful to include this information in your greeting to inform callers of this option, for example, "...if you need to reach me immediately, press "0" now and be connected to my mobile phone."
How long will messages be saved in my mailbox?
From your telephone, new and saved messages will remain in your mailbox for 30 days, and then they will be deleted. However, with Frontier Message Center, you now have the ability through the web to access your messages and save them to your computer hard drive. Saved messages are stored as .wav files.
How will I know if my mailbox is near capacity?
You will hear a warning threshold that your mailbox is getting full. Remember, you can always delete messages that you have heard. Additionally, for those very important messages that you want to save indefinitely, you can access your mailbox via the web and save any of your voice mail messages to your computer (just like you would save any other type of file). All messages are saved in a .wav format.
What happens if I accidentally delete a message that I wanted to keep?
All Frontier Message Center services do not permanently delete a message for seven days. Thus, you can still access a 'deleted' message to either listen to it (again) or save it, either as 'new' message or a 'saved' message, in your main mailbox. However, after a message is deleted, you have only seven days. After seven days (after being deleted) the message will permanently be removed from your mailbox.
What is mailbox-to-mailbox messaging?
Mailbox-to-mailbox messaging is a convenient way to send a message to another Frontier Message Center subscriber without ringing their phone. You address the message (to one or more Frontier Message Center subscribers), then record your message, then "send" the message.
What is a group list?
A group list is a convenient way to send a message to several people without having to enter each recipient's 10-digit telephone number every time you want to send a message. For example, if all of your family members are Frontier Message Center subscribers, you can establish a group list. Thus, when you address the message, you just need to enter a one or two digit number (corresponding to the group list you created), record your message and press send. It's very simple and time efficient.
Does my mailbox include a personal address book (contact list)?
Standard voicemail services do not include an address book. You must add it to your Frontier Message Center account. Frontier Message Center provides you the ability to create and send new messages, both voice and e-mail, from your computer. Additionally, this feature includes a personal address book, a convenient way for you to manage your important contacts. This feature is very convenient for establishing individual contacts as well as your group lists.
What happens if I don't answer the phone to receive a reminder message?
After attempting to call three times, a "failure-to-deliver" message is placed in the subscriber's mailbox.
Can I forward all my voicemail to an e-mail address?
Yes. After you log-on to https://webmail.frontiermessaging.com, go to Settings. Check mark the box titled "Auto-forward all voice mail messages and faxes to this e-mail address" and enter the e-mail address.
Note: By checking the box titled "Leave a copy of forwarded voicemail messages and faxes in the inbox", a copy of the voicemail message will remain in your mailbox. If you do not checkmark this box, new messages will never be left in your mailbox. The message will be forwarded only to the e-mail address you designate.
What is Reminder Service*?
Reminder service allows you to establish recurring and/or non-recurring reminders to call your telephone number (associated with your Frontier Message Center service). For example, you can establish reminders to remember family birthdays or other special occasions. Recurring reminders can be established to call your phone number at the same time each day.
Note: Reminder service is only available with Frontier Deluxe Service.
What kind of computer do I need to access my voice mail through the Internet?
You need a PC with a Pentium processor or higher with Windows 2000 (service pack 2), Windows XP or Vista Operating system. Additionally, you need Internet Explorer 6.0 (Service Pack 2) or higher. This service is not available for Macintosh computers.
Do I need any other equipment to access my mailbox online?
In order to listen to your voice messages (through your computer) your computer will need a sound card. This item is standard with most new computers. Additionally, with Frontier Message Center, you will need both a sound card and microphone, in order to record a message when you are online.
Do I have to access my messages from the telephone access number or can I listen to them via the Internet?
As a subscriber to Frontier Message Center, you can listen to messages either through the phone or by logging into https://webmail.frontiermessaging.com/. You will need speakers on your computer to listen to messages via the Internet.
Can I save my messages on my computer?
Yes. You can save any message to your hard drive (just like any other file on your computer). All messages are saved in the .wav format.
How does message notification to an e-mail address work?
An e-mail message will be sent each time a new message is deposited into your mailbox.
Note: You can establish multiple e-mail addresses that can receive this notification.
How do I establish message notification for e-mail?
After you log-on to https://webmail.frontiermessaging.com, go to Settings, and then click on the tab titled 'Messaging'. Then click on the e-mail tab. At the bottom of the screen click on 'New Entry' and enter the e-mail address you want to have the notification sent to? Check mark the 'Active' button to turn on notification. Lastly, press the 'App
How do I know the domain name of my cellular or pager carrier?

How do I establish message notification for a pager?
After you log on to https://webmail.frontiermessaging.com, go to Settings, and then click on the tab titled 'Messaging'. Then click on the pager tab. At the bottom of the screen click on 'New Entry'. Choose whether your pager is telephone (numeric paging) or e-mail. For numeric paging, you will need to choose either the 'Custom' or 'Default' page. Complete the appropriate form based on the dialing instructions of your particular pager.
How does fax messaging work?
With your Frontier Message Center mailbox, you can be sent fax messages. You can read each fax when you log in to your mailbox using Frontier's web access. You can then print the fax to a local printer networked to your computer.
Additionally, you can save the fax as a .tif file (format) on your computer. This file can be used as an attachment when sending an e-mail.
From your telephone, you can re-direct the fax message in your mailbox to a regular fax machine to be printed.
Can my mailbox send and receive fax messages?
Fax messaging is a "receive" only feature. Your mailbox can not initiate and send a fax.
Does my current mailbox support fax messaging?
No. You need to subscribe to Frontier Message Center. Unified Messaging can be "added on" to each Frontier Message Center service offering. Additionally, you need to have a 2nd number for the caller to use when they send you a fax. This "2nd number" is associated with your mailbox, so when the fax is received, the fax message is deposited into your mailbox.
What happens when I am looking at my visual voice mailbox and I have a question or get stuck?
On the left hand navigation bar there is a "Help Center" link that has both general and specific information on the web interface. Additionally, at the top right hand side of each web page there is a context specific Help button to tell you about the current page you are on.
